ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Holly Macnamara: Hailing from the highlands of Central Victoria and grown from an eclectic musical upbringing, contemporary folk singer-songwriter Holly McNamara crafts heady tales of grief, growth and overthinking. With heart and hands torn between the mandolin, nylon-string guitar, ukulele and tenor banjo, Holly’s sound is tied together by velvety vocals and tinged with trad folk, art-pop and prog-bluegrass influences.

Thea Lang is a writer of songs about relational experiences with self, other, community, place and spirit. She is inspired by patterns in the more-than-human world, by traditions of story-telling in folk music and by the power of song to ground, connect and enliven.

Sincerely, Time is three friends who used to make music on their own but have somehow found themselves together in a band. Their songs are raw. Their sound lives in the tension between sadness and optimism. Their feel is sweet and odd and dark. You might say it’s ambient. You might not.

Charlie Byrnes is a multi-disciplined creative and self-taught guitarist, who has enjoyed jamming from his various bedrooms, and the occasional open mic, over the last 7 years or so. Deeply influenced by sound, he uses music and the poetics of our lives as a portal to sensation, of rumination on love and the laments that adorn our story. This will be his first ever solo gig.

——————————————————————————————————

Groove Green is brought to you through YIMBY’s ‘GYMBY’ program: An opportunity for young people (18 - 30) in Castlemaine and surrounds to be a part of the YIMBY grassroots composting community and gain hands-on knowledge about making mighty fine hot compost - without needing access to land.

We’re inviting young folks in Castlemaine to join our GYMBY crew over the summer and beyond: You’ll get to move your bod, be a part of local climate action and meet your neighbours while you’re at it. Wholesome!!

For more information about GYMBY, join us at Groove Green on Sunday December 3 and/or head to www.yimbycompost.com/gymby.
