YIMBY Gymby - A space for young folk (18 - 30 ~)  to get active with YIMBY compost!

YIMBY has recently launched ‘Gymby’ -  An opportunity for young people in Castlemaine and surrounds to be a part of the YIMBY grassroots composting community and gain hands-on knowledge about making mighty fine hot compost - without needing access to land.

Gymby volunteers receive in-depth training in the YIMBY hot compost method, make meaningful connections with the composters in their neighbourhood and develop valuable skills in community building and hot composting - both key aspects of a localised, climate resilient future (we believe!)

Gymby volunteers play a key role in supporting YIMBY composters with:

  • Turning and remediating compost piles

  • Gathering resources to balance our compost piles (i.e autumn leaf collection, coffee grounds and food scraps from local cafes), and

  • Other areas of YIMBY that might be of interest!

YIMBY Gymby volunteers are ideally 18 - 30 years old (with some flexibility) and live within the Mt Alexander Shire, where our community composters are currently all based.

If you’re interested in joining our YIMBY Gymby team, we’d love to hear from you. Fill in the form below
