Advanced Hot Composting Series
Are you already a keen composter looking to take your composting skills to the next level? Do you make compost regularly, but sometimes have failures that you can’t explain, or just can’t seem to make your compost piles hot enough or for long enough?
In this workshop series Joel Meadows and Mikaela Beckley will go beyond the basics to look at what is really happening in that hot (or not) pile, how to make it work better and what we want our finished compost to come out like for best results in our gardens.
The three-week format gives us the opportunity to really get into the details of compost with exercises building and pulling apart several different piles over the weeks and honing our skills of observation (sight, touch, smell, even taste! - we still have not worked out how to listen to those microbes yet).
You will also be introduced to the YIMBY (yes, in my backyard) compost approach that gets hot composting started in a pile that can be built up over 4 – 6 weeks, meaning you don’t have to get all the materials together all at once, and allowing you to always have somewhere to put food scraps and garden waste (the holy grail for serious back-yard composters).
When - Sat 15th, 22nd & 29th April, 9am - 12noon
Refreshments provided.
Where - TBC
Cost - $120 (Please enter code from email to receive discount)
SOLD OUT! Due to popular demand we will be running it again, stay tuned for dates, and email us at hello@yimbycompost.com to join the waiting list.
This event/project is supported by the Mount Alexander Shire Council’s Events/Community Grants Program
